With tremendous excitement, OYC announces the hiring of Keri Lindell Butkevich as our new Executive Director. We are thrilled to welcome Keri, who comes to OYC after serving as the founding Executive Director for Education Through Music (ETM)-Bay Area since 2008, and Program Director for the Dominican Schools Music Project. Keri holds a Masters degree in Voice from San Jose State University, and a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education and Acting Specialist certificate from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. From 1998-2004, Keri conducted in-school and neighborhood programs with the internationally acclaimed Chicago Children’s Choir. She also taught for Merit School of Music, DePaul University’s Community Music Division, and worked in the Bay Area for the Community School of Music and Art, Young Audiences of Northern California, Cantabile Choral Guild, and Music in Schools Today. In 2010, Keri was named a JOC Scholar for Emerging Non-Profit Leaders by BoardSource, and currently serves as Board Treasurer of the Northern California Chapter of the American Orff Schulwerk Association. She is overjoyed to be returning to her choral roots as OYC’s new Executive Director and cannot wait to meet the singers and families who create the harmony of the Oakland Youth Chorus. Keri will join OYC at the end of April.
Eileen Hansen, OYC’s Interim Executive Director since July 2010, conducted OYC’s executive search after leading the organization through a critical phase in its history to ensure OYC’s sustainability. Thank you, Eileen!
