OYC is a multi-cultural music education and performance program for youth fostering talent, confidence and community. OYC serves over 1,000 children and youth each year in chorus programs in school and community sites.
Begin your musical journey with the OYC by joining the award-winning Concert Chorus (ages 14-21) or Middle School Magic Chorus this fall. Auditions for Concert Chorus held August 23-27, 2010 and September 7-10, 2010. There is a brief interview process for joining Middle School Magic. OYC's 35th Anniversary FestivalThe Festival raised $7500 and we couldn’t have done it without you. It was a terrific day of celebration that included outstanding performances by all of OYC’s choral ensembles, the marimba ensembles from Franklin and Garfield Elementary Schools, and Fruitvale Elementary’s African Dance and Percussion Ensembles, as well as special guests OYC Alumni Chorus, Valerie Troutt’s Soul Jazz Trio, and Chelle! And Friends. The festival audience participated in our silent auction, and bought the new OYC T-shirts and DVDs of the festival.

Starting this summer, OYC will begin accepting registrations for a wide variety of fall class offerings for kids and young people ages 5-21. We offer a strong music education curriculum, the opportunity to have fun and meet new friends from in and around Oakland, performance opportunities to grow self-confidence, and attractive sliding scale fees.
