2) Spread the word about OYC! Share your passion about OYC with the people around you. Bring a friend to one of our events or concerts. Send people to our website www.oaklandyouthchorus.org where you and your friends can learn more about OYC. Joining our mailing list, Blog and Facebook page are the best ways to keep up to date about what OYC teachers and choral members are doing in the community.
3) Donate to OYC by just buying groceries! Do you shop at Safeway or take the family out to Round Table Pizza? If so, you could be earning up to $150 annually for OYC through eScrip. 7) Become an OYC Board member! We are looking for people who are passionate about investing in children, youth and arts education. Give OYC children and youth the opportunity to learn from professional guest artists. During a residency, artists hold workshops and collaborate with choral members to perform standard and original pieces at one of our two annual OYC concerts.
In the past our Concert Chorus has performed with such talents as Linda Tillery, Keith Terry, Bobby McFerrin, Nancy Wilson and the Oakland East Bay Symphony.
Provide for a Miracle Chorus of twenty elementary school students for an entire school year.
Students will gain an appreciation of music from cultures around the world, and will increase understanding of the musical traditions of their own cultures and those of peers. They will learn music skills based on California state standards and have fun.
Allow OYC to produce professional concerts by helping to offset our production costs which include facility rental and payment for crew and musicians.
Performance is key to fostering talent and confidence in youth. Our concerts are excellent opportunities for our choral members of all ages to work with their peers, learn from different artist-teachers and hone their performance skills.

Many OYC youth have never been out of the Bay Area. This is a great
opportunity for them to see other parts of the country, bond with their
peers, and gain valuable performing experience with OYC's award-winning
choruses.
Provide a stipend for one-artist teacher to work with twenty elementary
students for a month.
Buy sheet music for a new song for our choruses to learn and perform.
